2014 Pinot Noir
The early part of the ripening season saw some hot spells followed by cooler than average temperatures and this caused some consternation. However, in the latter part of the summer, the weather stabilised and was consistently warm and dry. This allowed maximum flavour to develop in the grapes along with firm tannins and balancing acid levels.
The nose is very complex with forest floor and barnyard evident along with dusty and spiced notes that surround red and dark cherries as well as blood plums.
The palate is incredibly varied and rich with red and dark berries combining with nutmeg, cloves and some earthy notes along with meatiness. The fruit is juicy and mouth-filling. The finish is a superb match of tannin and acid with pronounced length. Already an enjoyable drink but it should develop for many years to come.
